10 Ways to make money while in school.

As a student, you tend to face so many challenges, ranging from tuition fee, hostel fee, Feeding, Departmental dues, Faculty dues, Etc. Here are my 10 pick of business that can thrive well in the Nigerian university environment. I've also done some research about this. It won't work for some, some people will hiss at it, yet some will benefit a lot from it.

  • T-Shirt Customization: This business requires your creativity as a student. looking around you, you’ll notice students love fancy and funky stuffs. learning the art of this business means you’ll have fellow students begging you to collect their money for a t-shirt write up. You can learn this simple business during your stay at home/holiday. You can start in small scale by doing the write ups on your own T-shirt, friends will like it and ask you to even do for them.
  • Online Registration: Yes, if you have a laptop and a bit of computer knowledge, i don’t know what stops you from enjoying both the pleasure and money derived from this Job. you can register virtually everything online. Course Registration, Post-UTME Registration, JAMB Registration, Job Application, etc. You can even make extra cash from typing assignments and projects for fellow students. Do i also need to tell you the thousands of Naira made during post UTME registrations? All the tools you need to make good money are all around you, you Just need to identify one and work your way through it.
  • Photography: The Photography business has grown from its state in the days to a renowned profession which people are making a fortune out of. Starting this business in small scale means you're not just making money at the moment but securing a strong financial future for yourself. You know how students especially the female folks love taking pictures, this is the perfect time to make maximum use of this opportunity. you don’t need much to start, just save a little money for a good camera, with a bit of creativity and you’re good to go. Please note that doing photography professionally requires just more than the previous requirements mentioned but this should be enough to get you started. you can also take passport photographs during school registrations.
  • Tutorials: Most students in our campuses are deficient in some courses, once you are good in any course, get the necessary materials and fix up a tutorial class with a little gate fee. NOTE: It must not fetch you the billions, but gradually,it will fetch you what will keep you going.
  • Laundry/ cleaning service: Its a known fact that most students find it difficult to their laundry or clean their rooms or apartment. You could earn extra cash washing and ironing for classmates, schoolmates and lecturers at an affordable price. If your mind tells you ''am too big to do this'' then that mind is just hindering your success. Remember, the mind is just a part of the body just like the hand and others, it is your duty to control it. You never can tell where this singular service can land you at.
  • Sales of past questions :This is another lucrative business you can start in the university. There are thousands of people who apply to different Nigerian universities yearly. If you can get lots of past questions for different faculties for your university and probably that of other universities, you can make real cash selling it both offline and online. The packaging matters a lot, make sure your past questions are not dim(have been photocopied a million times) and make sure the answers to the questions are correct. You can also sell past question papers to students in your school too. Past Semester exam questions.
  • Blogging: It may not pay early, but with consistency and packaging, one can make a big fortune by blogging. All you need is to buy a domain name and host your site.
  • Bulk SMS Business: Most people underrate this business, but remember the Bible says we should not despise the days of our small beginnings. Most course Representatives and Fellowships will always need your services to pass information to their members. If you are organized and well packaged, customers will be coming your way and before you know it,you will be earning more than you imagined.
  • Barbing/hair styling: Quite easy to achieve a lot from as well, all you need is the knowledge and good skill. When you have those two, just inform your friends you style hair and note do not charge them so high. For instance, If they are going to do a certain braids for 1500 else where in a saloon, you can charge them 800-1000. Might sound awkward but trust me, it’s professional. When your work is good, they will tend to come back because of your work and price. From there, you can also get your customers.
  • Sale of Fashion Items: Interesting thing about this business is that you’d succeed no matter your gender. Both male and female wears rocks on Nigerian campuses and who else will succeed more if not their fellow students.

DON'T WAIT FOR IT.

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. -James Lane Allen I once read the story of how marine merchants of those days use to wait at the harbour whenever they expect the arrival of their ships from the high seas. The practice was that the merchants would send the ships out to go and fetch treasures from far away while they wait at the dockside to receive them on arrival. Most times, because the sailors lacked the necessary passion and discretion of entrepreneurs, they often delayed pointlessly in bringing back the ships.
